National
Museum
Established in 1913 A.D.,
the museum was shifted to
a new four-storeyed
building at Shahabagh in
1983. It has forty
galleries featuring four
departments: National
History, History and
Cultural Art, Ethnography
and Decorative Art, and
Contemporary art and
Civilization. It has a
rich collection of
paintings, old coins,
metal images, world famous
embroidered quilts (Nakshi
kantha) and much more. You
can also find valuable
articles of the heroic
liberation war here.

Bangabandhu Memorial
Museum
Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur
Rahman was a charismatic
leader who organized
dissent and rebellion
against the British in
India, led the Bangalees
of East Pakistan in their
resistance to the unjust
actions of the
post-colonial Pakistani
government, and finally
helped found the
independent nation of
Bangladesh in 1971.
Bangabandhu was
assissinated with his
beloved family members by
a section of misleading
armed forces personnel on
15 August 1975. The
residence was turned into
a museum later in 1997
named as Bangabandhu
Memorial Museum.

Bangabandhu memorial
museum is situated at road
no. 32 Dhanmondi R/A,
Dhaka. It contains rare
collection of personal
effects and photographs of
his lifetime. This three
storied building is known
as Bangabandhu Bhaban. The
museum remains open 10am
to 6pm from Thursday to
Tuesday, Wednesday closed.
Mukti
Juddha Museum
Situated at Segun Bagicha,
the museum contains rare
photographs of the
Liberation War and items
used by the freedom
fighters during the

Science Museum
Located at Agargaon,
the museum is a modern
learning centre related to
the latest scientific
discoveries.
Folk Art
Museum
In
1975, this museum was
built to fulfil the dream
of the celebrated painter
Shilpacharya Zainul Abedin.
It has a very rich
collection of folk-themed
objects of both aesthetic
and utilitarian value.

Court
Building Museum
Situated on the Fairy
Hill, this building
commands a magnificent
bird's eye view of
Chittagong. This was the
scene of intense activity
during the liberation war
in 1971. A museum has been
established here

Ethnological Museum
The
ethnological museum in
Chittagong stands as a
milestone in our national
progress. It is a place
where ample facilities
have been installed to
carry out ethnological
research. This museum
houses objects of 12
different tribes of
Bangladesh and also of
many tribes of Australia,
India and Pakistan.
Visitors have to pay a
little amount of entrance
fee.

Tribal Cultural Museum
The
only Tribal Cultural
Museum in the Hill Tracts
region was established at
Rangamati town in 1978 and
is run by the Tribal
Cultural Institute. It
preserves valuable objects
and articles of different
tribes depicting their
socio-economic, cultural
and historical traditions.
These include typical
tribal dresses, ornaments,
arms, ammunitions, coins,
statues made of gold,
bronze and other metals,
musical instruments, ivory
products, handicrafts and
paintings on tribal life,
etc.

Varendra Research Museum
Situated at the heart of
the city, this museum has
a rich collection of
objects of Mohenjodaro and
also of 16th to 19th
century A.D. Its rich
collections contain
interesting objects of
past Hindu, Buddhist and
Muslim heritage. It is
maintained by Rajshahi
University Authority.
Mahasthangarh
Museum
Mohasthangarh is one of
the main attractions in
north Bengal. It was the
capital of Kingdom of the
Mourjo, the Gupta and the
Sen Dynasty.
This 3rd century
archaeological site is
still held to be of great
sanctity by the Hindus.
Every year (mid-April) and
once in every 12 years
(December) thousands of
Hindu devotees join the
bathing ceremony on the
bank of river Karatoa.

A visit
to Mahasthangarh site
museum will open up for
you wide variety of
antiquities, ranging from
terracotta objects to gold
ornaments and coins
recovered from the site.
Now it is one of the major
tourist spots maintained
by Bangladesh
archeological Department.
